Rajiv Rudy defeated Rabri Devi in 2014, capturing the seat from the RJD. Rudy retained Saran in 2019, winning against Chandrika Roy of the RJD.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rajiv Pratap Rudy of the BJP won by securing 53.02% of the votes, defeating Chandrika Roy of RJD.
