Tonk Assembly Elections 2023 LIVE Updates: Sachin pilot has won from Tonk with a margin of over 29,475 votes. The polls in Tonk Assembly constituency were no less than a prestige battle for the Congress heavyweight. The Congress leader, who won the 2018 polls with an impressive margin, scored a big victory in Tonk even as BJP swept the desert state.

“Once again I have been blessed by the voters of the area and have registered a big victory for Congress from here. I dedicate this victory to the people and party workers of Tonk. Heartfelt thanks for your support and cooperation. With the cooperation of all of you, the pace of development will continue in Tonk,” he said in a post in Hindi on X.

It was the second assembly election for Pilot, a two-time Member of Parliament. In 2018, Pilot contested from Tonk and defeated the BJP’s only Muslim candidate in the state, Yoonus Khan. He had defeated Khan with a margin of 54,179 votes in the Muslim-dominated seat.

Rajasthan held assembly elections for 200 constituencies on November 23 with a total turnout of 74.96 per cent, slightly higher than the previous assembly elections in 2018 which was 74.06 per cent. The Tonk constituency of Rajasthan is one of the general assembly constituencies 141 general seats.

Tonk Assembly Election Result 2018

In the 2018 assembly elections, Tonk seat was won by Sachin Pilot of Indian National Congress by defeating Yoonus Khan of Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 54,179 votes. However, in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP outshined and reserved the Lok Sabha seat of Tonk-Sawai Madhopur Lok Sabha constituency.

In the 2013 assembly elections, BJP won the seat with Ajit Singh as its candidate. The 2023 elections would be a 50-50 match between BJP and Congress in Rajasthan Assembly elections, with regional and minor parties attempting to make an impression.

Rajasthan Assembly elections: Counting of votes

As per the Election Commission of India, the results for the 4 states including Rajasthan were announced on December 3. The highest turnout has been recorded in Jaisalmer district, followed by Hanumangarh and Dholpur districts.
