Pune Lok Sabha Election 2024 Results Highlights: The counting of votes has come to an end in the closely-watched Pune Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra where Murlidhar Mohol of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Ravindra Dhangekar of the Indian National Congress were locked in a direct fight. According to the ECI data, BJP’s Mohol has won by 1,23,038 votes defeating Dhangekar. Mohol bagged 5,84,728 votes and Dhangekar got 4,61,690 votes.
Mohol, the former Pune Mayor, was fielded by the BJP after the death of its sitting MP Girish Bapat. The Congress, on the other hand, has pitted legislator Dhangekar who defeated the BJP in the Kasba assembly by-poll last year. The counting of votes is scheduled to begin at 8 AM.

According to the ECI data, BJP‘s Mohol has won by 1,23,038 votes defeating Dhangekar. Mohol bagged 5,84,728 votes and Dhangekar got 4,61,690 votes.

The final voting percentage for Pune was 53.54 per cent, a slight increase from 2019’s 49.89 per cent. However, voter turnout in Maval, Shirur and Baramati decreased. Maval recorded a voter turnout of 54.87 per cent, lower than 2019’s 59.59 per cent. Shirur recorded a voter turnout of 54.16 per cent, also lower than 2019’s 59.44 per cent. Baramati’s voting percentage dropped by 2.2 per cent to 59.50 per cent.

Exit polls on Saturday indicated that the BJP-led NDA may not reach the 41 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra that they won in 2019. However, the exit polls for Maharashtra are divided on the number of seats the governing Mahayuti will win compared to the MVA.
According to the exit polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and former Mayor Murlidhar Mohol is predicted to win Pune Lok Sabha seat. He contested against Congress candidate Ravindra Dhangekar and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi’s (VBA) Vasant More.
Pune district collector and election officer Dr Suhas Diwase on Friday stated that elaborate security arrangements are in place for three centres where Lok Sabha elections counting will be taken up on June 4.
Out of the three, two centres are in Pune and a third in Ranjangaon and strict surveillance through CCTVs has been set up across the strongrooms where EVMs have been stored as part of heightened security measures.
The Pune Lok Sabha seat will have 21 rounds of counting, while Baramati will need 24 rounds of counting. Similarly, Shirur will have 28 rounds while Maval Lok Sabha will have 25 rounds of counting. The counting process will start at 8 am and postal ballots will be accounted for first.
According to the election commission, 1,626 election staffers are to be deployed at the four counting centres in the city on June 4 when the fate of four parliamentary seats in the Pune district will be decided.
Pune constituency is an extremely important seat for both BJP and Congress. The BJP is trying its best to retain the seat it won in the previous two elections, while the Congress wants to regain its former bastion. Pune recorded a voter turnout of 51.25 percent during the fourth phase of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections which is marginally higher from 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Out of the 11 Lok Sabha constituencies, three of them–Pune, Shirur and Maval— are in the Pune district.
