The month-long Monsoon session of Parliament, which began on July 21, is set to end on Thursday. During this period, the Lok Sabha passed 12 bills, while the Rajya Sabha passed 14. However, much of the session was marked by repeated disruptions, adjournments and walkouts, which slowed down parliamentary business.
The opposition initially demanded a discussion on Operation Sindoor, followed by calls for debate on the Special Intensive Revision exercise in Bihar. Outside of these topics, little legislative business could be conducted due to constant interruptions.

Criticism from Opposition
A government functionary criticised the opposition, saying the session was filled with ruckus and lack of cooperation. The opposition missed participating in discussions on several important bills, which were ultimately passed. The functionary added that, except for the Bills of Lading Bill, 2025, which passed without disruption, most bills in the Rajya Sabha were cleared only after debate amid noise or following opposition walkouts, news agency PTI reported citing officials.
During yesterday’s Monsoon Session in the Lok Sabha, chaos erupted as opposition MPs tore up copies of three key Bills and hurled papers at Home Minister Amit Shah. The uproar followed his proposal to refer the legislation to a Joint Committee for further review.
Parliament proceedings were thrown into turmoil as the opposition raised a loud protest over the SIR of the Bihar voter list on August 20. Lawmakers accused the government and the Election Commission of attempting to disenfranchise poor and minority voters.
The session also saw disruptions over the Operation Sindoor discussion. Opposition members demanded that it be linked with the Bihar voter list issue, causing delays and eventual adjournment.
