The Odisha government on Monday announced that all state government offices and courts in Bhubaneswar will close after 1 pm on June 12 due to the swearing-in ceremony of the new chief minister and council of ministers.
Before the swearing-in ceremony of CM-designate Mohan Charan Majhi, PM Narendra Modi is reported to hold a roadshow in Bhubaneshwar. The PM is likely to visit the Rashtrapati Bhawan and then attend the oath-taking ceremony.

Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand sculpture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister-designate Mohan Charan Majhi with a message welcome – Historic day of Odisha – at Puri beach on Tuesday.

Ahead of his swearing-in ceremony, Odisha Chief Minister-designate Mohan Charan Manjhi said that protecting Odisha’s ‘Asmita’ (pride) will be the priority of the new government.
Four-time MLA Mohan Charan Majhi is set to be sworn in as Odisha’s CM today evening. Two deputy chief ministers; first-time MLA Pravati Parida and six-time legislator Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo will also be sworn in today.
“The new government will take oath today. The first job after taking the oath is to work to protect Odisha’s ‘Asmita’ (pride),” Majhi told reporters on Wednesday.
“Our double engine government is coming will work for fulfilling Modi guarantees and to resolve the problems of marginalized people,” he added. (ANI)
It was nothing short of a miracle for the family of Mohan Charan Majhi, as none of them had ever imagined he would become the Chief Minister of Odisha. Mohan’s mother, wife, and two sons, who live in government quarters in Bhubaneswar, were taken by surprise when Majhi was declared the new CM on Tuesday.
“I never thought that he (Mohan) would become the CM. I was expecting that he would secure a ministerial berth in the new BJP cabinet. It was a breathtaking surprise for me and my family,” said Mohan’s wife, Priyanka, her voice filled with disbelief and pride.
Mohan’s mother, Bale Majhi, expressed her happiness, saying, “He came forward to serve the people when he was a youth. First, he became sarpanch, then MLA, and now Chief Minister.”
Krishna, Mohan’s son and a class 8 student at a central school, added, “It was a surprise for me that my father became the CM. My friends are asking for treats from me.”

“We have made full security arrangements. We have two terminals, from Terminal 1 dignitaries are coming and from Terminal 2 the Prime Minister will arrive. There are a total of 12 guests including the PM, out of which 9 are CMs and 3 are central ministers…The force is ready…Separate arrangements have been made for the Prime Minister and other dignitaries,” Odisha SP Berhampur Sarthak Sarangi told ANI on security arrangements ahead of the swearing-in ceremony.
Following Mohan Charan Majhi’s appointment as the new Chief Minister of Odisha, discussions are underway regarding the selection of ministers. Majhi, along with his deputies KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, will be sworn in on Wednesday. Senior leaders such as Jayanarayan Mishra, Suresh Pujari, Rabinarayan Naik, Laxman Bag, Surama Padhy, and Bhaskar Madhei are being considered. All except Bag have been elected to the state assembly at least twice; Bag is likely to be inducted into the Cabinet for defeating BJD president Naveen Patnaik. Other potential candidates for ministerial roles include Babu Singh, Irasis Achaharya, Sanjali Murmu, among others, PTI reported.
Majhi will be Odisha’s third tribal Chief Minister, following Hemananda Biswal and Giridhar Gamang of the Congress. Parida will become the state’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister.
