Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Highlights: Narendra Modi on Wednesday resigned as the Prime Minister of India and is likely to take oath for a third consecutive term on June 8. The new Cabinet of Modi 3.0 is also likely to take oath on the same day. Modi met President Droupadi Murmu earlier in the day to tender his resignation and is set to meet her again with letters of support from NDA parties to stake claim to form the government. The developments come a day after the National Democratic Alliance emerged on top in the Lok Sabha elections, winning 293 of the 543 seats. The Opposition alliance of 28 parties under the INDIA banner collectively managed 232 seats, 40 short of the majority mark.

Odisha (21 Lok Sabha seats), Uttar Pradesh (80 seats), Bihar (40 seats), West Bengal (42 seats) and Maharashtra (48 seats) are set to witness an interesting electoral contest. A total of 62.4 crore voters exercised their franchise braving extreme weather conditions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted over 300 election programmes through their three-months-long election camapign.
