Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 6 Highlights: An approximate voter turnout of 61.76 per cent was recorded in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday across 58 constituencies spanning six states and two Union territories. West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout percentage at 80.06 per cent. While incidents of minor clashes and protests were reported from West Bengal, instances of EVM malfunctioning were observed in some places, including Delhi. The Election Commission said that at 52.28 per cent till 7.45 pm, the polling percentage in the Anantnag-Rajouri seat in Jammu and Kashmir was the highest in many decades. With the conclusion of this phase, polling has been completed in 486 seats across 28 states and Union territories. The last phase of polling will be on June 1, and vote counting will be on June 4.

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti led a protest outside the Bijbehara Police Station in Anantnag, expressing concern over the targeting and arrest of PDP polling agents. “Our PDP polling agents are being targeted and arrested. BJP candidates contesting from Delhi include Manoj Tiwari for North East Delhi, who is the only sitting MP from Delhi fielded again by the party, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri for South Delhi, Bansuri Swaraj for New Delhi, Harsh Deep Malhotra for East Delhi, Yogendra Chandolia for North West Delhi, Praveen Khandelwal for Chandni Chowk, and Kamaljeet Sehrawat for West Delhi.
For the first time, the AAP and the Congress have joined hands to field candidates against the BJP in Delhi. The AAP is contesting on four seats, while the Congress has put forward candidates for the remaining three seats as part of the INDIA coalition for the Lok Sabha Elections.
The AAP has nominated Kuldeep Kumar for the East Delhi seat, Mahabal Mishra for West Delhi, Somnath Bharti for New Delhi, and Sahi Ram Pahalwan for South Delhi. The Congress has named J P Agarwal as its candidate for Chandni Chowk, Kanhaiya Kumar for North East Delhi, and Udit Raj for North West Delhi constituency.

In West Bengal, the voting is being held in the tribal belt known as the Jangal Mahal region, spanning five districts. This region, renowned for its identity politics, sends eight representatives to the Lok Sabha from the Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, and Bishnupur constituencies.
During the 2019 polls, out of these eight seats, the BJP emerged victorious in five, while the TMC secured three seats.
Around 11.4 lakh Polling officials have been put on duty across 1.14 lakh polling stations for the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections. Over 11.13 crore voters include 5.84 crore men; 5.29 crore women and 5120 third gender voters.
There are over 8.93 lakh registered 85+ years old, 23,659 voters above 100 years and 9.58 lakh PwD voters for Phase 6 who have been provided the option to vote from home, the Election Commission of India said.

She is the daughter of late Sushma Swaraj, who was the former External Affairs Minister in the BJP-led NDA government. The AAP has nominated Somnath Bharti as their candidate from the same constituency. Seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will vote today.

The Lok Sabha election voting is taking place in multiple phases across various parliamentary constituencies. The first phase, held on April 19, encompassed 102 constituencies, with a voter turnout of 66.14%. This was followed by the second phase on April 26, covering 89 constituencies, where the turnout was recorded at 66.71%. The third phase, conducted on May 7 across 94 parliamentary constituencies, witnessed a turnout of 65.68%. Subsequently, the fourth phase on May 13 involved 96 parliamentary constituencies, with a final turnout of 69.16%. The fifth phase, which took place on May 20, encompassed 49 parliamentary constituencies across six states and two Union Territories, recording a turnout of 62.2%. Results will to be announced on June 4.
