Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Highlights: Jailed Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh wins big

The people of Khadoor Sahib have spoken. Jailed Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh has emerged victorious by a margin of over 1,97,000 votes. He got 4,04,430 votes, according to the ECI data.

So far, more than three lakh votes have been polled in favour of Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh in Khadoor Sahib, where he is poised to emerge victorious.

Khalistan leader and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh is ahead by over 1,30,000 votes with the Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Laljit Singh Bhullar trailing far behind.

While the counting of votes progresses in Khadoor Sahib, with Independent candidate Amritpal Singh currently in the lead, let’s take a look at the national picture in the Lok Sabha election results 2024: As of 12 pm, NDA is currently leading on 297 seats of the 543 constituencies where voting took place. INDIA alliance is leading on 228 seats.

Amritpal Singh’s father, Tarsem Singh, said he was reluctant to fight the polls but changed his mind after the ‘sangat’ — meaning community — insisted. Amritpal Singh, an Independent candidate, is currently leading by over 70,000 votes against Congress‘s Kulbir Singh Zira.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress‘s Jasbir Singh Gill had won the Khadoor Sahib seat. Besides Amritpal Singh and Kulbir Singh Zira, Akali Dal’s Virsa Singh Valtoha and AAP’s Laljit Singh Bhullar are in the contest. While AAP is in the third spot now, the Congress is fourth.

The chief of Waris Punjab de, Amritpal Singh, is currently in prison at Assam‘s Dibrugarh after he was charged under the National Security Act (NSA) last year. The radical preacher had made headlines after a mob attacked a police station in February last year over the arrest of one of his supporters. Amritpal Singh was arrested after a massive crackdown, charged under NSA and moved to Dibrugarh jail.

Jailed Khalistani leader, Amritpal Singh, who has been charged under the National Security Act (NSA), is all set to claim victory in the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, without even hitting the ground for the campaign. His proxy campaign was carried out by his father in the Punjab seat. He is leading by over 45,000 votes, according to the ECI trends.

Incarcerated Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh has taken a comfortable lead in Khadoor Sahib constituency. Indian National Congress (INC) Kulbir Singh Zira and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Laljit Singh Bhullar are trailing, according to the ECI trends.

Independent candidate from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat and ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh is leading from the seat with a margin of 7333 votes.

As India voted to elect its 543-member Parliament and now gears up to find out who will form the next government, the Election Commission of India (ECI) began counting votes at 8 am on Tuesday morning. Initially, the postal ballots will be counted and then the counting of EVM votes will begin.

Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh, currently imprisoned in Dibrugarh, Assam, contested as an independent candidate. His proxy campaigning was carried out by his father. He is up against Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Virsa Singh Valtoha.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Jasbir Singh Gill (Dimpa) of the Indian National Congress won this seat defeating Bibi Jagir Kaur of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) by a margin of over 1,40,000 votes which was 13.44 per cent of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 43.86 per cent in 2019 in this seat.

The Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency is situated in Punjab and was established after delimitation in 2008. It is part of the Tarn Taran district and includes nine assembly seats. The region, considered sacred by Sikhs, is named after the Gurdwara Shri Khadoor Sahib, visited by eight Sikh gurus.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will begin the counting of votes at 8 am. The counting of postal ballots will begin first which will be followed by the counting of EVM votes. The outcome will become clear once the results for all constituencies are declared by the poll panel.
