The NIA said that the entry and exit points are being closely scrutinised by the investigating teams for clues to the modus operandi of the terrorists in the Pahalgam terror attack case.

The teams, aided by forensic and other experts, are checking the entire area thoroughly for evidence to expose the terror conspiracy that led to the horrendous attack that has shocked the nation.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) teams, stationed at the Pahalgam terror attack site since April 23, have intensified their efforts to gather crucial evidence.

Led by senior officers, including an IG, DIG, and SP, the teams are meticulously examining eyewitnesses who witnessed the horrific assault at the scenic Baisaran valley.

According to the NIA, witnesses are being questioned in great detail to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to one of Kashmir’s deadliest terror attacks. The agency is focusing on piecing together every element of the incident to identify the attackers and uncover the broader network behind the tragedy.

Union Minister of Jal Shakti, CR Paatil says, “Today, the situation is such that a war has started as we stopped water to Pakistan…We do not have a water problem, but there is no water management. No one paid attention to this. Our country receives about 4000 BCM (billion cubic metres) of rainfall. Our requirement is only 1120 BCM. We will need only 1180 BCM by 2050. But the water storage system we have is only 750 BCM… If anyone has done the most work on water in this country, it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He built Amrit Sarovar in every district. Through it, efforts were made for water conservation and rainwater harvesting…”

The Congress party is reaching out to other Opposition parties to draft a joint letter demanding a special Parliament session to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack and the government’s proposed future actions, sources told The Indian Express on Sunday.

The letter, currently being prepared by Congress leaders, is expected to be sent by today evening or tomorrow. The move comes after 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in a brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, last Tuesday.

Notably, all Opposition parties have expressed support for the Centre’s actions post-attack, with Rahul Gandhi pledging full backing for government measures.

Hidayat Bhutto, UK and Europe Organizer of the World Sindhi Congress, strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, blaming Pakistan for sponsoring global terrorism and sheltering UN-designated terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar.

Speaking on the Indus Water Treaty, Bhutto said Sindh’s interests were ignored during the 1960 agreement, as Pakistan failed to represent Sindh. He highlighted how Sindh’s once-thriving Sindhu Delta has suffered severe environmental and economic decline due to Pakistan’s aggressive dam and canal construction benefiting Punjab.

Bhutto called for international guarantees to protect Sindh’s water rights, warning that the survival of Sindh is now critically endangered.

Authorities have demolished the houses of three active terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora, Pulwama, and Shopian districts as part of an ongoing security crackdown following the Pahalgam terror attack.

On Saturday night, the house of Adnan Shafi, a terrorist who joined militant ranks last year, was demolished in Shopian’s Wandina area.

The house of Amir Nazir, another active terrorist, was destroyed in Pulwama, while in Bandipora, the house of Lashkar-e-Toiba operative Jameel Ahmad Shergojri, active since 2016, was razed. This brings the total number of demolished properties linked to terrorists and their supporters to nine since the Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 people.

On the night of April 26-27, 2025, Pakistani Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in areas opposite Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors. Indian troops responded effectively with appropriate small arms fire, the Indian Army said.

President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone and “strongly condemned” the Pahalgam terror attack, expressing full solidarity and support with India, the Ministry of External Affairs has said.

A 45-year-old social activist was injured after being shot at by suspected terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said on Sunday, reports PTI.

The terrorists fired at Ghulam Rasool Magray inside his residence at Kandi Khas late on Saturday, the officials said.

Magray was rushed to a hospital, they said and added it was not immediately clear why the ultras targeted the social activist.

Thakhur’s 5-acre farm in Sindh’s Latifabad region relies heavily on the Indus, which sustains 80% of Pakistan’s agriculture. His fears are echoed by many farmers and experts, especially after scant rainfall in recent years. The meeting has been held, given directives by the central government.

The Bihar government on Saturday confirmed that all Pakistani nationals who had recently been staying in the state have left before the April 27 deadline set by the Centre.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakh and a government job for the family of Lt. Vinay Narwal, who lost his life in the Pahalgam terror attack.

Saini said that, honouring the wishes of Lt. Narwal’s parents, the state government would provide a job to a family member as a mark of respect for his sacrifice.

At least 14 people have been arrested in Assam for allegedly making ‘seditious’ and pro-Pakistan remarks following the Pahalgam terror attack, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday.

Speaking to ANI, Sarma said, “There are no similarities between Bharat and Pakistan. The two countries are enemy nations and we must continue to treat them as such.”

He warned that the state government may invoke the National Security Act against those found guilty. “We are closely monitoring all social media posts and strict action will be taken against anyone we identify as acting against national interests,” the CM added.

BJP‘s Ramesh Bidhuri, comparing the Pahalgam terror attack to a Hamas offensive, warned of an “Israel-type revenge”.

“If a Hamas-type attack happens, an Israel-type revenge will be taken. If terrorists and Jihadis have no religion, then why are they killing people after asking about their religion? 140 crore Indians want to ask this question to those so-called secularists. PM Modi has said that they will be given such a punishment, they won’t even be able to imagine,” he said.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for skipping the all-party meeting convened in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.

Kharge pointed out that leaders from across the political spectrum, including himself and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, were present at the meeting.

“The first question I raised was that when the government calls for an all-party meeting, the prime minister should be there. His absence, we felt, was not appropriate,” Kharge told PTI.

The police in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday issued an order for Pakistani nationals in the state currently on short-term visas to leave or face strict action. The decision comes after a directive from the Centre asked Pak nationals in the country to leave following the Pahalgam terror attack.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs has given clear instructions regarding the visas of Pakistani nationals that all the short-term visas, except diplomatic/official and long-term visas, should be considered cancelled and their deadline to leave the nation is April 27. Additionally, those who are here on medical grounds have been given a relief of 48 hours and their visas will be valid till April 29. An order has been issued to strictly follow these instructions and it is being strictly followed in Bhopal as well,” Bhopal commissioner of police Harinarayanchari Mishra told ANI.

Maharashtra minister Yogesh Kadam on Saturday said that approximately 5,000 Pakistani nationals are residing in the state, including 1,000 on short-term visas who have been instructed to leave India as per the Centre’s directive.

He stated that several Pakistani nationals have been living in India for 8–10 years, with many marrying Indian citizens or surrendering their Pakistani passports to apply for Indian citizenship.

“By my estimate, there are around 4,000 long-term visa holders, including 1,000 under the SAARC visa category — individuals who have come for film projects, medical treatment, journalism, or personal reasons,” Kadam said.

He further added that those on short-term visas must leave by April 27, while individuals holding medical visas have been given a two-day extension.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and attendees at an event in Delhi observed a two-minute silence to honour the lives lost in the Pahalgam terror attack. Politicians across the party lines have condemned the terror strike that killed 26 people, mostly civilians in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack.

“The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in the terror attack. I talked to the parents of Bitan Adhikary. Swasthya Sathi Card has been made for Bitan’s parents, and they will be given a pension of Rs 10k per month as they are very old. Rs 5 lakhs will be given to Bitan’s parents, and Rs 5 lakhs to Bitan’s wife. Rs 10 lakhs each will be given to the other two victims’ families in Behala and Purulia,” Banerjee said. “If anyone wants a job, the government will provide it. I also talked to the wife of the paramilitary personnel who lost his life in Udhampur. The government has announced a job for her and a compensation of Rs 10 lakhs,” she added.

A resident of Karmarha village in Jammu and Kashmir told ANI, “The government has provided us with bunkers. During earlier instances of firing, we used to take shelter in them. We are deeply saddened by the incident in Pahalgam and stand firmly with our Army and administration.”

He added, “Since this is a border region, firing incidents were common in the past. We have cleaned our bunkers and are prepared to move into them if any unfavourable situation arises.”

Another resident said, “The people had forgotten the bunkers. Now the bunkers are being cleaned again…There is an atmosphere of fear, but we hope harmony will prevail in the valley…”

At a high-level meeting chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday, a proposal was put forward to conduct a study on maximising the use of water from three rivers previously shared with Pakistan under the Indus Waters Treaty.

The development comes after India recently suspended the treaty following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued an advisory to all media channels “to refrain from showing live coverage of defence operations and movement of security forces in the interest of national security”.
