Political strategist Prashant Kishor predicted a huge win for the BJP-led NDA but said they won’t get more than 400 seats. On the other hand, political activist Yogendra Yadav estimated that the BJP might get 240-260 seats, and their allies might get 35-45 seats, totaling 275-305 seats for the NDA.
Proper questionnaires are prepared to gather clear data for future analysis. As much as the quantity of data is important, equally important is the fact that the sample has more representativeness.
“All opinion polls conducted over the past one year have consistently suggested the BJP-led NDA is likely to return to power, winning over 272 seats. Polls conducted in Q1 2024 showed that the NDA had gained further momentum. For instance, most polls predicted 300 seats for the NDA in mid-2023, but polls in Q12024 predicted anywhere between 377 and 411 seats for the NDA. While most polls do not offer a breakdown of the NDA seats between BJP and its allies, a 330+ seat verdict for NDA implies, in our view, that the BJP is predicted by polls to comfortably secure a simple majority (>272 seats) on its own,” forecasted Nomura.
Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has told ANI today that the INDIA alliance will come to power because “the people of India want a change.” He further said, “Wherever we went we felt that people wanted a change…We are confident that the INDIA alliance will come.”
Exit poll results are not the final results. These are just surveys that give predictions on which party has the chance of winning and which party has the chance of losing.
The purpose of opinion polls is to know the preferences of the public. It is carried out gradually over days and sometimes months leading up to the election. Exit polls on the other hand are conducted right after the voter leaves the polling booth on voting day.
The seventh and last phase of the 18th Lok Sabha Elections will come to an end today at 6:00 PM. Various television channels will start showing their survey results soon after.
An exit poll is a kind of survey that is done after the election. It predicts which party or candidate has more chance of winning/losing. Voters are asked for their input after they vote, and then they make their predictions. The goal of exit polls is to guess the results before the official count is announced, but there has been some debate about how accurate these polls are.
