The Election Commission of India on Thursday made public the electoral bonds data, including bond numbers, in compliance with the directives of the Supreme Court. The State Bank of India (SBI) Chairman affirmed in an affidavit filed before the court that all details of electoral bonds in the bank’s possession have been provided to the ECI. Hours later, the data was published on the EC’s website.

“In compliance with the Supreme Court’s directions, SBI has provided data pertaining to electoral bonds to ECI today i.e. March 21, 2024. ECI has uploaded it on its website as received from SBI on an ‘as is where is basis’,” the ECI said in a press note.

The disclosed information encompasses details of redemption by political parties, such as serial numbers, dates of encashment, party names, account numbers’ last four digits, prefixes, bond numbers, denominations, pay branch codes, and pay tellers.

Following the Supreme Court’s order on Monday, directing the bank to disclose all electoral bond details purchased or redeemed post-April 12, 2019, including unique alphanumeric codes, the SBI complied, submitting an affidavit of compliance by March 21, 5 pm.
