Election 2021 Live Updates: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today hit out at the BJP alleging that the saffron party has tacit understanding with the Indian Secular Front. In an apparent reference to the ISF, Mamata Banerjee today accused the BJP of backing a new political party to eat into minority votes during the upcoming assembly polls. Without naming any party or any person, Banerjee also claimed at an election rally in South 24 Parganas district the founder of that outfit receives money from the BJP. At the rally in Patharpratima, Banerjee said the CPI(M) and Congress have an understanding with the BJP.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah today hit out at the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government for keeping the state deprived of development. Shah said that Mamata Banerjee ensured automobile companies are chased out of Bengal. He urged people to voter for the BJP. “If you want schemes then vote for Modiji, if you want scams then vote for incompetent TMC government, said Amit Shah in Baghmundi. “Modi ji wants elections to be for your welfare. Didi wants elections as a means to make her nephew the next Chief Minister. Do you want the nephew as your CM or development in Bengal?” asked Shah. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said that the BJP is going to win over 200 seats in the state. “I am absolutely sure that BJP will win more than 200 seats in West Bengal Elections. Bengal government should understand that in a democracy, the government runs through Constitution and not arrogance,” said Singh. In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Palaniswamy and DMK chief MK Stalin are holding poll rallies in the state while Pinarayi Vijayan is campaigning to retain power in Kerala. Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a rally in Contai, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a roadshow in Medinipur on Tuesday for the upcoming polls. Elections to the 294-member state Assembly will be held in eight phases starting from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 29. In Assam, elections are being held in three phases starting March 27. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
