ECI Delhi Election Results 2025 Highlights

The EVMs and VVPAT machines used in the Delhi assembly elections are stored in 70 strong rooms, each protected by a three-tier security system, according to an official statement on Thursday. These rooms are heavily guarded by the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) at the innermost perimeter, while state police is securing the outer perimeter.

In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, exit polls came closer to the actual results, but AAP still exceeded expectations. The average of eight exit polls predicted AAP would win 54 seats, with BJP securing 15 and Congress almost irrelevant. However, the real results were surprising as AAP won 62 seats, outperforming predictions by eight seats, while BJP only managed eight seats, far below the expected 15.

In 2015, most exit polls predicted that AAP would win a majority, but they underestimated how big Arvind Kejriwal‘s victory would be. The average of six major exit polls estimated that AAP would win about 45 seats, with the BJP expected to get 24 seats and Congress just one. However, the actual results were a big surprise – AAP won 67 seats, the BJP only got three, and Congress lost all its seats.

Delhi has 70 constituencies which went to polls on February 5. These are divided into 58 general seats and 12 reserved seats for Scheduled Castes (SC). Each constituency is witnessing a battle between major political parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Indian National Congress (INC). Apart from these, there are many other independent candidates and smaller regional parties that are contesting in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025.

Reiterating the reference of ‘Dharam Yuddh’, Atishi on Saturday said that this is the fight between the good and evil. She is confident that the people of Delhi will stand with the good, AAP and Arvind Kejriwal and that he will become the CM for the fourth time.

Alka Lamba, the Congress candidate from Kalkaji, said that she doesn’t think that Ramesh Bidhuri is favored by the people of Kalkaji, as his language has angered many. She believes Arvind Kejriwal will lose his seat.

Lamba further added that Atishi is also facing significant anti-incumbency due to her lack of action, even though she was the CM.

Key Congress candidates who are contesting for Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 include Sandeep Dikshit (New Delhi), Alka Lamba (Kalkaji), Jitendra Kumar Kochar (Malviya Nagar), Ariba Khan (Okhla), and Farhad Suri (Jangpura).

Key BJP candidates that are contesting include Ramesh Bhiduri (Kalkaji), Parvesh Verma (New Delhi), Arvinder Singh Lovely (Gandhi Nagar), Kailash Gahlot (Bijwasan), and Kapil Mishra (Karawal Nagar).

Some of the key AAP candidates in the Delhi Assembly Elections include Arvind Kejriwal (New Delhi), Atishi (Kalkaji), Manish Sisodia (Jangpura), Awadh Ojha (Patparganj), Satyendra jain (Shakur Basti), Amanatullah Khan (Okhla), Somnath Bharti (Malviya Nagar).

Harish Khurana, the BJP candidate from Moti Nagar constituency, expressed confidence, stating that the response they have received from the people, not only in Moti Nagar but across Delhi, shows that the BJP is set to win over 50 seats. He said that the public has been struggling with various issues, but instead of addressing their concerns, Arvind Kejriwal and his team were caught up in political accusations and blame games and their efforts have been unsuccessful. He added that today, BJP is poised to make a comeback in Delhi after 27 years.

New Delhi, Malviya Nagar, Kalkaji, Ballimaran, Rohini, Shakur Basti, Patparganj, Jangpura, and Okhla are some of the key constituencies of Delhi that are seeing a touch electoral battle between the AAP, BJP, and Congress. AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is fighting against BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit in New Delhi.

Dushyant Gautam, the BJP candidate from Karol Bagh assembly constituency, visited the Jhandewalan Temple in Delhi on Saturday morning to offer prayers, as the vote counting is about to commence. Gautam is running against AAP’s Vishesh Ravi and Congress’s Rahul Dhanak.

Delhi exit poll results were held shortly after the National Capital finished voting on February 5. Majority of exit poll results including that of Axis My India, Today’s Chanakya, CNX, and P-Marq have predicted a clear victory for the BJP-led alliance. Matrize, on the other hand, suggested a tighter race forecasting the BJP-led NDA to win between 35-40 seats, with AAP closely trailing at 32-37 seats.

BJP candidate from Malviya Nagar Satish Upadhyay told media ahead of the Delhi election vote counting that the way India is moving towards ‘Viksit Bharat’, the same way “Lotus will bloom” in the National Capital. Referring to the Exit Poll results, Upadhyay said that it shows people’s mood and that there is no coming back for AAP.

The National Capital has been a witness to an intense run-up to the three-way electoral battle. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has dominated the last two assembly elections in Delhi, is now facing a strong challenge from a resurgent BJP and Congress, that is eager to make a comeback. This contest has raised the stakes higher than ever before, with each party vying for control of Delhi. With the dynamics shifting every day, the Delhi Elections are as unpredictable as ever, setting the stage for an exciting and closely watched race for power.

Reactions from major parties have started coming in ahead of ECI’s vote counting for Delhi Assembly Elections 2025. Speaking to ANI, AAP candidate Manish Sisodia, who is fighting from the Jangpura constituency, said that he is confident that AAP will come to power for the fourth time in Delhi. He further added that a lot of work has to be done in the National Capital and for the education of children.
