In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the government on Friday announced the appointment of several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to top positions within key ministries.
Arvind Shrivastava, a 1994 batch IAS officer from the Karnataka cadre, has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance. Prior to this, Shrivastava was serving as the Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. His appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), according to a Personnel Ministry notification.
Additionally, Vumlunmang Vualnam, also an IAS officer, has been appointed as Secretary of the Department of Expenditure in the Ministry of Finance. Vualnam succeeds Manoj Govil, who has been reassigned as Secretary (Coordination) at the Cabinet Secretariat.
In another significant move, Vivek Aggarwal, a 1994 batch IAS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. Aggarwal, who has previously served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue, is also holding the charge of Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND).
Furthermore, Santosh Kumar Sarangi, another senior IAS officer, has been appointed Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Sarangi’s appointment adds to the growing list of high-profile bureaucratic reshuffles.
