Palestinian Al Quds Brigades claim responsibility for attack at Lebanon-Israel border

The Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, claimed responsibility for an attack at the Lebanon-Israel border earlier on Monday, saying it was part of the wider Al-Aqsa Storm operation.
It said seven “zionist soldiers” had been injured in the operation. (REUTERS)

Several airlines suspend flights after attack on Israel

Major international air carriers have suspended or reined in flight services to or from Tel Aviv after a surprise attack by Hamas militants on Israel over the weekend, saying they were waiting for safety conditions to improve. Abbas has reportedly been deported from India for her old tweets in which she allegedly made derogatory comments against India and Hindus.

Israel to cut-off its water supply to Gaza forthwith, minister says

The Israeli infrastructure minister said on Monday he had ordered an immediate cut-off of the country’s water supplies to the Gaza Strip, as fighting with Palestinian militants surged. “What was in the past, will no longer be in the future,” Israel Katz said in a social-media post announcing the cut-off. Israel drafts 300,000 reservists as it goes on the offensive

Israel has drafted a record 300,000 reservists in its response to a multi-front Hamas attack from Gaza and is “going on the offensive,” the chief military spokesperson said on Monday. Since Saturday’s surprise assault, Israeli aircraft have been pounding Gaza targets while its ground forces have battled to retake control of border villages and towns overrun by Palestinian gunmen. HPCL aims to cut diesel purchase from other companies

Hindustan Petroleum Corp will cut its diesel purchases from other refiners as it has commissioned a 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) hydrocracker at its recently upgraded Vizag refinery, its head of refineries S Bharathan said on Monday. State-owned HPCL buys fuels from refiners such as Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals, Nayara Energy and Reliance Industries as its domestic sales are higher than the output from its two refineries at Mumbai in western India and Vizag in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. It also buys refined fuels from its joint venture company HPCL-Mittal Energy. (Reuters)

India watching Israel-Palestine conflict closely, says oil minister

India, the world’s third-biggest oil importer, is watching the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict in the Middle East closely, the country’s oil minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Monday. Oil prices rose over $3 a barrel on Monday as military clashes between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas deepened political uncertainty across the Middle East and raised concerns about supplies. “The place where action is taking place is in many respects the centre of global energy… as we go along we will navigate through this,” Puri told reporters at an industry event in New Delhi. Big leg-up for INDIA bloc as National Conference-Congress sweeps Ladakh

The National Conference and Congress alliance on Sunday swept Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Kargil elections, winning 22 out of 26 seats. Bank of Israel to sell $30 bn of forex

The Bank of Israel said on Monday it will sell up to $30 billion of foreign currency in the open market, in the central bank’s first ever sale of foreign exchange, to maintain stability during Israel’s war with Palestinian militants in Gaza.
