India resumes e-visa services for Canadian
India on Wednesday resumed e-visa services for Canadian nationals, an Indian Express report said. The development comes almost two months after New Delhi suspended Indian visa services in Canada over Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s allegation of a potential Indian link to the killing of a Canada-based Khalistan separatist Nijjar.
Sam Altman to return as OpenAI CEO

Russia says three Ukrainian drones destroyed over Crimea
Russian anti-aircraft units destroyed three Ukrainian drones over the Crimean peninsula, the Russian defence ministry said. “An attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack with aircraft-type UAVs on objects on the territory of the Russian Federation was prevented,” the defence ministry said. “Three Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed over the territory of the Republic of Crimea by air defences,” the ministry said. US president Biden welcomes Israel, Hamas deal for release of Gaza hostages
U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday welcomed the deal to secure the release of hostages taken by Palestinian Islamist group Hamas during the attack on Israel. Israel’s government and Hamas agreed to a four-day pause in fighting to allow the release of 50 hostages held in Gaza in exchange for 150 Palestinians imprisoned in Israel, and the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave. Drilling resumes at Silkyara tunnel Uttarkashi
Drilling with the American auger machine resumed at the Silkyara tunnel overnight to prepare an escape passage for the 41 workers trapped inside for more than 10 days, officials said on Wednesday. According to officials, 800 diameter steel pipes have been inserted up to 32 metres through the rubble so far. Drilling was suspended at the tunnel since Friday when the auger machine hit a hard object. (PTI)
Indian stocks rise marginally at opening bell Wednesday
At the opening bell on Wednesday, Indian stock indices were marginally higher. Because of overnight losses in the global benchmark US market, the upside was likely restricted. At 9:35 a.m., the Sensex and Nifty indices in India were both up about 0.1% from their previous closes. This morning’s change in sectoral indexes was mixed, with Nifty Media being the biggest mover and Nifty Realty being the top loser.
