Delhi traffic police issues advisory in view of G20 summit full dress rehearsals

In view of the upcoming G20 Summit, full dress rehearsals will be held Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m onwards as carcades will move from different parts of Delhi towards Central and New Delhi Districts, a Delhi Traffic Police official said. According to traffic police, on Saturday, rehearsals will be held from 8.30 a.m. to 12 p.m., 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. while on Sunday, these will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., 9.30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and 12.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Hearing in 2009 gangster act case against Mukhtar Ansari tomorrow

The hearing in the 2009 Gangsters Act case against jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari will be held on September 1 in Ghazipur MP MLA court. Mukhtar Ansari was booked under the Gangsters Act for the third time by Ghazipur police in 2009 after he was found accused in two cases including a case of murder of Kapildev Singh lodged with Karanda police and an attempt to murder Mir Hasan of Muhammadabad police station area.

ED arrests MD of Topworth Group Abhay Narendra Lodha in money laundering case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Abhay Narendra Lodha, Promoter and Managing Director of Topworth Steels and Power Pvt Ltd (TSPPL) and Topworth Group, in a money laundering case, reports said. The federal agency arrested Lodha on August 30 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLa), and a special court in Mumbai has given custody of the businessman to ED up to September 8.

Delhi HC allows stem cell therapy for children suffering from autism

The Delhi High Court has allowed two children suffering from autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to undergo stem cell therapy for treatment of their condition. The family members of the two children had approached the high court earlier this year with a petition after their treatment was stopped by their doctors on account of a recommendation by the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of National Medical Commission (NMC), which said the use of stem cell therapy shall amount to professional misconduct.

Economy grows by 7.8 pc in Q1: NSO data

India recorded economic growth of 7.8 per cent in the April-June quarter of 2023-24 against 13.1 per cent in the year-ago period, as per the National Statistical Data (NSO) released. South Africa: Death toll in fire at Johannesburg building rises to 73

The death toll in the fire incident in a five-story building in Johannesburg has risen to 73, reports said. The Goa Crime Branch has arrested state Aam Aadmi Party president Amit Palekar for allegedly misrepresenting facts in connection with an accident wherein a Mercedes car mowed down three people near Panaji earlier this month, reports said. Transgender prisoners must be treated at par with other categories of inmates and should enjoy equal rights and facilities, the Supreme Court Committee on Prison Reforms has said. In its final synopsis of reports filed in the apex court, the committee headed by former top court judge Justice (retd) Amitava Roy has recommended that jail staff and correctional administration at all levels, particularly the guarding personnel, must be given adequate and regular training in order to equip them to appropriately interact with transgender prisoners. India’s economic growth set to accelerate to its fastest in a year

India’s economy grew at its fastest pace in a year in the April-June quarter, driven by services and manufacturing, data is expected to show on Thursday, though economists warn of a slowdown ahead. According to the median forecast in a Reuters poll of economists, India’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew 7.7% in the past quarter, up from 6.1% growth in the previous quarter and its fastest expansion since April-June 2022.

Tea production rises by 6.2 percent in July 2023 Kolkata
