In the second phase of voting, several key constituencies are in focus. These include Barhait, where Chief Minister Hemant Soren is facing off against BJP‘s Gamliyel Hembrom, and Dhanwar, where BJP’s Babulal Marandi, the first CM of Jharkhand, is up against JMM’s Nizam Uddin Ansari.

“We worked responsibly for governance, but the BJP was working at full force to crush us, and it was this effort that led to my imprisonment. I have no qualms about accepting jail time if I’ve done something wrong, but when I hadn’t, and still ended up in jail, I could not accept it. While in prison, I realized the true motive was to destabilize the government and weaken the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha,” said Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, while talking to The Indian Express

“Not at all. Our election campaign was based on the last five years of our work. Every place we put this issue forward whereas the BJP worked only to polarise the electorate,” he said.
In a appeal to the people of Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has accused the BJP of neglecting the state’s rightful share of Rs 1.36 lakh crore in development funds.
Soren highlighted the lack of commitment from BJP leaders, stating, “Every big and small BJP leader came and went to campaign in Jharkhand, but no one has ever claimed our rights.” He criticised the Centre for withholding crucial funds that could have been utilised for new flyovers, schools, colleges, metro rail, and welfare schemes spanning education, health, tribal welfare, and social security.
Calling it a question of identity and development, the Chief Minister said, “This is our right, our children’s future, and the security of Jharkhandis. We will take our rights.”
Soren urged the people to hold the BJP accountable and ensure that the state’s due funds are used for the welfare of Jharkhandis.
