Japanese apparel brand Uniqlo is set to open its first physical retail outlet in Bengaluru, further expanding its presence in the Indian market. The new store, scheduled to open on August 29 at Orion Mall, Brigade Gateway, will be the company’s 16th store in India.
A subsidiary of Fast Retailing Co., Uniqlo entered India in October 2019 and currently operates stores across Delhi-NCR, Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Mumbai, the latter having seen its first Uniqlo outlet in 2023.
“Bengaluru marks the next significant milestone in our India expansion,” the company said in a media statement. “Over the past few years, we’ve seen strong demand and brand affinity from Bengaluru through our e-commerce platform, and we look forward to welcoming customers in person to experience Uniqlo LifeWear.”
Globally, Uniqlo’s parent company, Fast Retailing, reported a 33% increase in profit, reaching $1 billion in the second quarter of 2025. In an earlier interview with PTI, Uniqlo India Chief Operating Officer Kenji Inoue had stated that the company aims to reach Rs 1,000 crore in sales in India by the end of the 2025 fiscal year. Uniqlo is also working to raise its share of locally sourced products to 18% by 2025, up from 15.5% the previous year. Uniqlo India posted a 31% rise in revenue to Rs 814.84 crore and a 25% increase in profit to Rs 85.17 crore for the financial year 2024.
Inoue emphasised the company’s long-term commitment to India, calling it “one of the very important markets” in Fast Retailing’s broader ambition to triple global sales to 10 trillion yen.
