Hindi fiction continues to be the cornerstone of India’s OTT viewership, with Criminal Justice: A Family Matter emerging as the most-watched series across platforms, attracting 27.7 million viewers on JioHotstar, according to a report by Ormax Media. The courtroom family drama, produced by Applause Entertainment and BBC Studios India, topped the fiction-heavy Top 50 OTT titles list.
Close on its heels is Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2, which drew 27.1 million viewers on Amazon MX Player. The gritty political drama comes from Prakash Jha Productions. Panchayat Season 4, the widely loved rural satire from TVF, secured third place with 23.8 million viewers on Amazon Prime Video.
Other top performers include Paatal Lok Season 2 (16.8 million viewers, Amazon Prime Video), the Korean hit Squid Game Season 3 (16.5 million, Netflix), and The Legend of Hanuman Season 6, an animated epic by Graphic India, which reached 16.2 million viewers on JioHotstar.
Netflix’s Hindi original The Royals, produced by Pritish Nandy Communications, clocked 15.5 million viewers. Platform rankings: JioHotstar out in front
JioHotstar leads the overall tally with 16 titles in the Top 50, underscoring its growing dominance across genres. Netflix follows closely with 14 entries, buoyed by a strong mix of Indian originals and global franchises with local resonance. Amazon’s dual platforms, MX Player and Prime Video, feature 8 titles each. Sony LIV and ZEE5 make more modest appearances, with two and one entries respectively.
Fiction continues to drive viewer engagement on OTT platforms, accounting for 39 of the Top 50 titles. Films and reality series share the remaining slots equally with 5 titles each, suggesting that while long-form storytelling remains the audience favourite, standalone and unscripted content is slowly gaining traction.
Language trends: Hindi reigns supreme
Hindi content remains overwhelmingly dominant, with 34 titles on the list. English follows with six, driven largely by international hits and established franchises. Tamil makes a strong regional showing with four titles, while Korean content registers two spots, indicative of a loyal niche following. Malayalam, Mandarin, and Telugu each have one entry, pointing to slow but growing linguistic diversity in national OTT preferences.
