With the increasing frequency of road accidents and traffic disputes, a reliable eyewitness in the form of a dash cam is no longer just a luxury, it’s a necessity. While dash cams are becoming popular in cars, the Qubo’s Bike Cam Pro fills a much-needed gap in the two-wheeler segment, which has long lacked a specialised solution.

Qubo, a smart device brand from Hero Electronix, has launched a bike dash camera. Simply called the Qubo Bike Cam Pro, the device is designed to offer real-time video recording to India’s growing community of motorcyclists.

Why does your bike need a camera?

Let’s face it. Roads are unpredictable. Accidents, close calls, reckless driving, they happen in a split second. And in most cases, it’s your word against theirs. That’s where the role of a bike cam changes the game. It records every moment of your ride. Qubo’s Bike Cam captures every detail. So, if anything goes wrong, you have the footage to prove your point. With the help of a bike cam, the insurance claims also speed up.

Basically, it’s your black box on two wheels.

High-definition video with wide-angle view

At its core, the Qubo Bike Cam Pro offers a high-quality video recording at 2k resolution through a 3MP camera that gives 1296p, ensuring crystal-clear footage during both day and night rides. The camera has a 124° wide-angle lens that covers most of your surroundings, which is ideal for both open roads and tight city lanes.

Is it waterproof?

The camera is specifically designed for the riders. It’s built like a beast. Rain? Dust? Heat? The Qubo Bike Cam doesn’t flinch.

Many of you will have doubts about whether it is waterproof. As we mentioned earlier, it works well in the rain; the camera comes with an IP66-rated weatherproof body. Adding to that, the camera’s quality remains almost the same in the rain as well.

Longer rides require a longer battery life

The camera comes with a 2,000 mAh battery, which is good enough for a small gadget like a dash cam. However, there was a discrepancy that we found. The company’s website claims that the battery lasts for 270 minutes (while recording) on Super Saver Mode. On the other hand, the manual says it could record for 360 minutes in the same mode. In either case, the battery lasts long.

Storage

The device supports loop recording, which continuously overwrites old footage unless saved, a critical feature for long-term use. All videos are stored on a microSD card, and users can access, view, and download them through the QuboPro mobile app. The users can expand the SD card storage up to 1 terabyte. We recorded an hour-long video that turned out to be a 4.7 GB file.

Easy to install set up

The camera gets mounted on your helmet quite easily without any hassle. The company provides you with a 3M sticker to install the specially designed clip mount wherever you want. Either on the side of the helmet or on top of it. And after placing it, you can change the device’s mounting orientation. Now, you just need to clip the cam to the base to start recording. Remember, the cam only records the video if it is attached to the clip mount. Plus, if you need to mount it on your bike’s handlebars, you need to buy a bike mount separately.

You can manage recordings, playback footage, and adjust settings with the Qubo Pro App, which is available for both Android as well as iOS.

Price

You can get your riding mate for a price of Rs 3,990 at your doorstep. You can either buy it from Qubo’s website or from the e-commerce site, Amazon. Both have the same price to offer.

Could it be your new riding friend? Here’s our take

Whether you’re a daily commuter or a weekend biker, this camera adds a whole new layer of confidence. Someone cuts you off? Camera’s got it. You rode through a beautiful valley and want to relive it? Camera’s got it. And let’s not forget: bike vlogs and reels just got easier.

When insurance claims, legal hassles, or road rage incidents arise, this camera could be your most reliable witness. It’s a piece of mind in a tiny box. The roads aren’t getting any easier. But our rides can get safer.

However, there are a few limitations that we saw regarding the product. Activating or switching on the cam only using a specially designed clip mount. Plus, mounting on the bike’s handlebars is not a dedicated option.

There’s no on-off switch provided, which could have been a lot better. This is a dashcam, and it may not serve its purpose if it is not turned on by mistake during unforeseen circumstances. Also, the lens’s protection could have been double-layered, but that doesn’t matter much. All in all, the Qubo bike dash cam is not just a gadget; it’s a guardian on wheels.
