Tata Motors has launched a new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Kolkata, marking the company’s eighth such center in India. Named Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect, this state-of-the-art facility is capable of sustainably dismantling up to 21,000 end-of-life vehicles each year.
Operated by Tata Motors’ partner, Selladale Synergies India Pvt. Ltd, the facility is equipped to handle the scrapping of passenger and commercial vehicles, as well as two-wheelers and three-wheelers, across all brands. With existing RVSFs in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Pune, and Guwahati, the Kolkata center becomes the third Re.Wi.Re in eastern India, improving accessibility for customers in the region.
The inauguration was attended by Mr. Snehasis Chakraborty, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Government of West Bengal, along with other dignitaries. Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Chakraborty said, “The launch of Tata Motors’ Re.Wi.Re is a significant move toward a cleaner, more efficient future. This facility will promote the adoption of newer, safer, and energy-efficient vehicles while fostering a circular economy in the transport sector.”

All Re.Wi.Re facilities are fully digital, operating with seamless, paperless processes. The Kolkata RVSF includes cell-type dismantling lines for commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers, and line-type dismantling for passenger vehicles. Specialized stations ensure the safe removal of components like tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids, and gases.
Each vehicle goes through a rigorous documentation and dismantling process that adheres to India’s vehicle scrappage policy, ensuring the safe and environmentally responsible disposal of all parts.
