Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited (Sona Comstar) has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Mark Overly as the new Chairman of the Company in the wake of the unexpected demise of Sunjay Kapur, the company’s Non-Executive Chairman. The Board of Directors has also appointed Priya Sachdev Kapur as an Additional Non-Executive Director. A string of changes were announced after held by the meeting held by the Board of Directors.
Who is Jeffery Overly?
Overly, who has served as an Independent Director since February 2021, brings nearly five years of dedicated service to the board, consistently attending all board and committee meetings and making valuable contributions to the company’s strategic direction, even while operating from a different time zone.
Overly holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial management from the University of Cincinnati and a master’s degree in business from Central Michigan University. With over 43 years of operational experience, he is recognised for his expertise in business leadership and operational excellence. Before joining Sona Comstar, Overly retired from the Blackstone Group in 2018, where he served as an Operating Partner in the Corporate Private Equity Group in New York. During his tenure, he played a key role in supporting Blackstone’s global portfolio companies, focusing on operational improvements, supply chain optimisation, and strategic growth initiatives. Additionally, Overly has held significant leadership positions at Kohler Company as Vice President of Global Fixture Operations, overseeing global manufacturing and supply chain operations, and spent 25 years at General Motors Corporation and Delphi Corporation in various engineering and operations roles with international responsibilities.
Overly is also an Independent Director on the board of Performance Food Group, Fortrex, Inc., Ltd. (earlier known as Packer Sanitation Services Incorporated), Comstar Automotive USA LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company and a Director on the Board of Sabre Industries, Inc. and Supply One, Inc.
Priya Sachdev Kapur appointed Non-Executive Director
In a significant move, the Board approved Priya Sachdev Kapur’s appointment as an Additional Non-Executive Director, pending shareholder approval, following the Nomination and Remuneration Committee’s recommendation. Priya, a former investment banker and luxury retail pioneer, started as an M&A analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston, London. She later led ventures in automotive retail, insurance, and high fashion in India. Founder of TSG International Marketing Pvt. Ltd., she introduced global fashion brands like Moschino and Lanvin to India and co-created Rock N Shop, a pioneering luxury e-commerce platform.
