Uber has partnered up with Nike as the official ride partner for the Nike After Dark Tour (ADT). This is the first-ever nighttime 10K run in Mumbai, which is focused on empowering women by making mobility safer and more accessible, especially after dark. Nike’s ADT run is the biggest 10K ever in India and is designed to build a running community.

Tarundeep Singh, GM, Nike India, said, “The After Dark Tour is a celebration of connection and confidence for women runners. Teaming up with Uber ensures participants feel secure while travelling to and from the race.”

Mumbai After Dark Tour: What is it?

The collaboration between Uber and Nike is focused on building a safe environment at night for women who have to juggle multiple hats, like their time for work, fitness, and fun. For making all this possible, safety remains a barrier to venturing out at night. A recent Uber survey revealed that 85% of women avoid making evening or night plans due to safety or transport concerns and even modify their plans based on these factors. Moreover, 79% feel safer using ride-hailing services like Uber, and 94% of Uber users say it enables more spontaneous outings after dark.

Uber’s smart safety tools

Uber follows a standard practice where all the drivers are police verified, the fleet must have live GPS tracking and emergency assistance. According to the survey, these features are especially valued by women, with 70.8% citing GPS tracking as the most reassuring safety tool.

Beyond nightlife, Uber’s impact extends to women’s workforce participation. A study by Oxford Economics found ride-hailing helped 4 in 10 women join the workforce, with 75% citing safety as a key factor.

Uber aims to remove mobility barriers by offering safe, reliable rides to and from the ADT venue, including post-event festivities, ensuring women feel confident about travelling at night.

According to Shiva Shailendran, Director, Consumer & Growth, Uber India & South Asia, “Women shouldn’t have to compromise on their freedom because of safety concerns. Our partnership with Nike is about enabling confidence and accessibility after dark.”
