Traffic fines, the way they are issued, kept track of, and the way to pay them, have come a long way. With today’s digitisation of most things, traffic challans have also gone digital and the way they can be paid has become easy. So if you have a challan, or think you might have one, here’s a detailed guide to check and pay them.
How to check challan online
Checking if a vehicle has a challan or not is easy. One needs to visit the e-challan Parivahaan website, then, either enter the challan number, the vehicle registration number, or the DL number, followed by the captcha code, and when you click the submit button, it will show you a list of charges, both pending and paid. This is the easiest way to check for any challans on your vehicle. One can also download the mParivahaan app to check challan details on the phone.
How to pay challan online?
Once you have the details, and if there are no challans, it is a big relief. However, if there are any pending charges, it is advisable to pay up at the earliest. The easiest way to pay the challan is through the Parivahaan portal, although there are alternate methods and apps.
To pay through the Parivahaan portal, you have to follow the same steps as when checking for challans, then select the particular challan you want to pay for, enter the requested details, and say pay now. The user can pay online using a variety of methods such as debit cards, credit cards, and net banking amongst others. Once paid, note down the details and save a copy for future reference, which may come in handy.
