Obsession with gaming can lead to something very productive. Krafton India has announced the launch of ‘Beyond Battlegrounds’, a digital storytelling initiative designed to spotlight real-life stories emerging from India’s growing gaming community.  The campaign opens with the inspiring story of 28-year-old Karan Kargwal, a railway technician from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, who created a full-scale, working replica of the iconic BGMI buggy on the roof of his home.

Built entirely from salvaged materials including scrap metal, discarded parts, and the engine from his old motorcycle—Kargwal’s project stands as a testament to passion-driven creativity. Working weekends under the harsh desert sun, and without formal training in design or engineering, he reverse-engineered the buggy using only screenshots and in-game 3D models.

His determination, coupled with the support of his family, turned a personal dream into a national sensation. “I used to play BGMI after work to unwind,” said Kargwal. “Somewhere between the game and the grind, an idea took hold—and I couldn’t let it go. This buggy is proof that when passion meets purpose, even the most unexpected dreams can come alive.”

His journey quickly gained traction online, with his Instagram reels drawing over 220,000 followers—95% of whom are from Tier 2, 3, and 4 cities. Recognising the momentum and heartfelt community engagement, BGMI extended its support, helping Kargwal complete the build and officially launching the ‘Beyond Battlegrounds’ campaign to spotlight similar stories from across India.

Krafton’s Vision for Inclusive Gaming in India

“Gaming in India is no longer a niche—it’s a movement, and it’s being led by creators in small towns,” said Saurabh Shah, Head of People Operations at Krafton India. “With ‘Beyond Battlegrounds’, we are celebrating these creators who transform gameplay into real-world impact. Karan’s buggy is more than a project—it’s a symbol of innovation and identity powered by gaming.”

The initiative is part of Krafton’’s broader vision to develop a decentralized, inclusive gaming ecosystem in India. The short film documenting Kargwal’s journey is now live on BGMI’s official social media handles. It encapsulates the resilience, emotion, and creativity that define India’s emerging gaming culture.
