It’s time for Delhites to wake up and smell the coffee. Vehicle owners must now ensure that the colour-coded fuel stickers are visible on their windshields. The Delhi Transport Authority has mandated these stickers, and failure to comply will result in fines and denial of Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates.

How to book fuel stickers online

Thanks to technology, the process of applying for a colour-coded fuel sticker is quite straightforward.

  1. Log in to Book-My-HSRP (High-Security Registration Plate) — https://bookmyhsrp.com/
  2. If you need to replace the HSRP then click on the section High-Security Registration Plate with Colour Sticker otherwise choose Only Colour Sticker option.
  3. Booking details will need to be filled including from which state the vehicle’s registered from, the registration number, chassis number and engine number. All these details are available on the registration certificate or card, which is issued by Regional Transport Office (RTO). What could be a slight curve are the next two information — front and rear laser code that are etched on the lower corner of the HSRP.
  4. Fitment Location: Choose from the list of authorised dealers from where the sticker or the HSRP plate can be fit and then book an appointment or a time slot.
  5. After filling up all the details one will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number before finalizing the payment. A confirmation will be send via SMS and the receipt can also be downloaded.

If one wants to check on the status of the order, there’s an option to track it by simply typing in the order number and the car registration number.

What is the purpose of the stickers?

The stickers help the authorities identify the fuel type of the vehicle. This is very handy when there are restrictions on certain vehicles when the pollution levels hit high levels under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) like BS 3, BS 4 and diesel vehicles.

There are three types of hologram stickers — orange for diesel, blue for petrol and CNG and Grey for electric and hybrid vehicles.
