The Honda CR-V is a luxury SUV and measures 4,545 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width and 1,685 mm in height. Power and torque generated from the 1,997 cc unit is 153.8hp at 6,500 rpm and 190Nm at 4,300 rpm, while the larger 2,354 cc motor produces 187.4hp at 7,000 rpm and an impressive 226Nm at 4,400. Both engines offer good performance and are fuel-efficient by segment standards.
There are three transmission options for the Honda CR-V. While the smaller engine powered variant has a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 5 speed automatic, the larger four-wheel drive variant gets a 5 speed automatic only. Gear changes are smooth for both units and the clutch for the manual gearbox is light, adding to the driver’s convenience.
The Honda CR-V comes standard with six airbags, ABS with EBD and Vehicle Stability Assist, which adds to the safety factor. A light but strong ACE body structure has impact absorbing crumple zones which also aid to occupant safety.
Claimed mileage of the Honda CR-V is 13.7 km/l for the 2.0 litre variants and 12 km/l for the 2.4 litre trim, which is acceptable considering the minimum kerb weight of the 2.0 litre variant at 1,470 kg and 1,600 kg for the 2.4 litre variant.
