F1 fans say that the cars have become boring and there is no soul to the sport anymore. Gone are the days when the cars were like screaming banshees. However, not all hope is lost as FIA’s President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, has shown interest in bringing back the V10s to the sport, giving all of us a ‘sound’ of hope.
In an Instagram post, the President said, “While we look forward to the introduction of the 2026 regulations on chassis and power unit, we must also lead the way on future technological motorsport trends. We should consider a range of directions, including the roaring sound of the V10 running on sustainable fuel.”
An FIA spokesperson said, “A V10 power train running on sustainable fuel would be part of those considerations, which would be tied to environmental and cost-containment measures. While we are fully focused on the introduction of the 2026 regulations, and the prospect of the competitive racing they will bring, we also need to keep an eye on the future.”
F1: 2026 regulations
The 2026 Formula One season will see cars running new powertrains. The cars will make more power on the whole, but the power made from the engine alone will see a drop, from the current approximate 730bhp to around 540bhp, however, there will be more power from the hybrid motor, from the current 120bhp to 470bhp. Also, the cars will run on 100 percent fully sustainable fuel.
The 2025 F1 season is scheduled to kick off in March, with a lot of changes, the biggest this year being Hamilton behind the wheels of a Ferrari — a childhood dream for the Brit. Stay tuned for more updates on F1.
