Marquez adds yet another victory to his name, winning at the Sprint race at Jerez, muscling his way ahead of pole starter Quartararo in the beginning itself. This makes it five wins in a row for the Spanish rider. Soon, the Ducatis took over, taking up the first six positions on the podium, and dominating the Jerez Sprint.
Spanish MotoGP: Jerez Sprint race
Yamaha’s Quartararo started the race in pole position and was soon met with Marquez looking for a gap, but on the second lap, disaster struck for the French man under braking as the M1 veered wide and eventually lost the front. That was the end for Quartararo. The podium remained unchanged for the entirety of the race with Ducatis taking the first six positions.
Taking the title for Ducati were the Marquez brothers in first and second, followed by Bagnaia, Morbidelli, Aldeguer, and Giannantonio. The best non-Ducati finish came from Maverick Vinales on the KTM in seventh, followed by Marco Bezzecchi’s Aprilia in eighth, Joan Mir’s Honda in ninth, and Pedro Acosta in tenth.
The Jerez Sprint race had little to zero drama apart from the brief clash between Marc Marquez and Quartararo, which ended in the early stages itself. That said, Yamaha, despite starting in the pole position, was the only manufacturer to not have scored points in the Sprint race. Stay tuned for more updates from the Jerez GP later this evening.
