The 2025 Qatar MotoGP was nothing short of drama when Ducati’s Marquez emerged victorious, winning the Sprint and the race itself. With the recent win, Marquez extended his overall lead to 123 points in the overall championship, while the current MotoGP champion, George Martin suffered a crash that left him with injuries again, while KTM’s brief podium moment was snatched away with a penalty.
2025 Qatar MotoGP: The Race
Starting in pole position, Marquez went for the holeshot, however, he made a brief contact with his brother that saw bodywork from the red Ducati being tossed onto the field. Morbidelli used this opportunity to take the lead in turn 2, while Alex Marquez made contact with Fabio Di Giannantonio later on, earning him a Long Lap penalty.
On lap 5, Bagnaia made his move on Marquez, taking second place, leaving the Ducati rider to deal with Vinales and Johann Zarco on his tail. With 16 laps left, Marquez passed Bagnaia to take second place, but the real person to watch out for was KTM’s Vinales. At the end of lap 7, he passed Bagnaia for P3, and with 12 laps to go, he was leading.

Morbidelli soon saw Zarco pressuring him and eventually lost P4, however, with 8 laps to go, Vinales was holding off Marquez to take the win, but a mistake at Turn 6 opened the doors for Marquez to take the lead and win the GP. The Tech 3 rider eventually settled for P2, but disaster struck soon as he was handed a 16-second penalty for running for illegal tyre pressures — running below the official parameters. He eventually settled for 14th.
