Nio EP9, an electric monster from China, comes with batteries that generate one megawatt of power, which translate to a massive 1341 hp in terms more understandable to us. Only a few customers will get their hands on this electric device capable of munching big super cars on the Nurburgring.

Initially, the company only planned to build six of these cars solely for Chinese market, however they received calls from 10 more rich folks that should more of these cars be built, they'd be interested in purchasing it. The number will still not be very big, it comes with a heavy price tag of GBP 1.4 million (approximately Rs 11.58 crore). The parent company Next EV has confirmed building ten more of these, but hasn't clarified if they will be sold outside China.

The EP9 has lapped the Nürburgring on seven minutes and five seconds, and broke the previous record in battery powered cars by 17 seconds. Then it went to set two records at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas – one with a driver behind the wheel and one without the driver.

On February 23, the NIO EP9 drove itself around the 5.5 km Texan F1 track, recording a time of 2min 40.33s and a top speed of 257.5 kmph. Also, the same car beat the fastest COTA lap time for a production car with a driver, achieving a lap time of 2min 11.30s and reaching a top speed of 273.5 kmph.

An eyebrow raising fact about the car is not that it drove about the track smashing records, the autonomous tech behind this feat was developed in four months!

It speeds to 0-200 kmph in 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 313 kmph. It is a plug in electric hypercar that takes merely 45 minutes to charge, and allows a range of 426 km before there's need for plugging it again.
