Called the 35 series, the new Bajaj Chetak will be available in three variants – 3501, 3502, and 3503 – and the current variants will be phased out slowly. The Chetak not only sees minor cosmetic updates and added features, but also a complete revamp of its chassis and electrical components. The prices of the variants are as below.
- Bajaj Chetak 3501 – Rs 1.27 lakh
- Bajaj Chetak 3502 – Rs 1.20 lakh
- Bajaj Chetak 3503 – To be announced soon
New Bajaj Chetak 35 series — What are the updates?
The biggest change is the hidden one — frame. Bajaj has gone back to the drawing board for the update and has reworked the frame of the new Chetak, giving it a 25mm longer wheelbase. This has helped Bajaj better reposition all the crucial electrical components, including the battery. They now sit on the floorboard, giving the scooter better weight distribution and making more room for the feet. This has also helped get more boot space – 35 litres – and Bajaj says it can carry two helmets in the boot.
The other big change is the battery pack itself — the range-topping Bajaj Chetak 3501 variant gets a new 3.5kWh battery pack, which offers an IDC range of 153km, which translates to approximately 125km range in the real world. That said, other performance figures haven’t changed, but the Chetak now gets a 950-watt onboard charger that can juice up the battery pack from 0–80 percent in 3 hours. The overall result is a weight reduction of 3kg, a longer seat, and a longer floorboard.
New Bajaj Chetak 35 series — Features
Given the wants of customers with EVs, Bajaj has loaded the new Chetak with features. The TFT instrument cluster has been tweaked and now gets complete maps instead of turn-by-turn navigation. The cluster is also touch-operated and has smartphone connectivity to allow call and message notifications along with a music playback option. The scooter also gets a dedicated app that allows for tracking the vehicle, limiting the top speed of the Chetak, and much more.
Other features include the classic design language and the all-metal body the Chetak was always known for, a single-sided suspension at both ends, disc brake up front, alloy wheels, LED lighting, tactile switchgear, and more. The new Bajaj Chetak 35 series will compete with the Ather Rizta, Ola S1, TVS iQube, and other EVs in the market.
