Ultraviolette is the only manufacturer that has an EV that can give a motorcycle enthusiast a burst of fun. That said, the company has something even more interesting in the form of the F99, a fully-faired motorcycle that is focused on performance. Now, the company aims to set a top speed record, not just for EVs, but for any Indian motorcycle.
Ultraviolette F99 top-speed run
The Ultraviolette F99 sits above the F77 which is on sale in India, and soon globally. While the F99 is a track-only motorcycle, a lot of its technology has trickled down to the F77, especially in the battery and motor department.
The F99 features a full fairing, USD forks, clip-on bars with split seats and rear-set foot pegs, giving the motorcycle the right sportbike stance. The motorcycle will attempt to set the fastest quarter-mile top speed record at Amby Valley for an Indian motorcycle.
Ultraviolette did release a teaser of the motorcycle last year ahead of EICMA, and with its 90kW motor, the F99 can accelerate from 0-100kmph in under three seconds, while being able to reach a claimed top speed of 265kmph. With the upcoming drag races set to take place at Amby Valley, it will be interesting to see how the all-electric F99 performs and what it achieves in terms of timing and top speed.
Ultraviolette’s challenge to ICE brands
Ultraviolette’s co-founder, Narayan Subramaniam did throw out an open challenge to Bajaj and other ICE two-wheeler makers, asking for a challenge to bring its fastest machine out on the drag strip for a race. Bajaj has yet to respond to it, while Narayan says that this challenge is more to do with collaborations rather than anything else. It will be interesting to see what other ICE makers have as a response.
