India’s number one two-wheeler EV maker, Ola Electric, has unveiled its third-generation scooter platform. In addition to employing cutting-edge technology to enhance the performance of its upcoming scooters, Ola has also assured that they will be cost-effective.
Ola Gen 3 platform: More rigid
Ola Electric has unveiled its new approach for the Gen 3 platform, termed ‘Inside the Box’. The firm will integrate the motor and battery into a single unit, enhancing the efficiency of EV scooters and reducing their weight. A significant advancement is the role of the battery pack in contributing to the structure, stability, and balance of the platform. The company also confirmed that this new platform is versatile and will lead to the launch of a diverse range of scooters, covering commuter, touring, and performance categories. Ola claims that this next-generation platform will deliver a 26 per cent increase in performance and a 22.5 per cent reduction in costs compared to their existing architecture.

Ola Gen 3 platform: Next-gen battery
Ola has developed an in-house battery that consists of 4680 cells. According to the EV two-wheeler company, these advanced cells are larger and more powerful than the currently used 2170 cells. Based on this, the manufacturing time reduces and improves both thermal efficiency and shock resistance.Â
Ola Gen 3 platform: Single ECU and Safety

Ola Electric is set to introduce a single Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that will replace various moving components found in the current generation, along with a magnetless motor. This new motor will feature magnetized electrical coils, enhancing performance with higher torque and improved efficiency. Ola has streamlined its new architecture by combining the Battery Management System with the Motor Control Unit. Additionally, a contemporary Central Commute Board will provide Ola with the capability to incorporate features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) into its future vehicles.
