Bajaj updated the Chetak electric scooter a few days ago, launching the Urbane and Premium variants, priced at Rs 1.15 lakh onwards. The updated EV competes with the Ather 450 range and the Ola S1 range, two of the most popular selling EV brands in India. Let’s see how the new Chetak variants compare to the Ola S1 Air and the S1 Pro in terms of specifications.

Bajaj Chetak

As mentioned earlier, the Chetak is available in two variants — Urbane and Premium. Both scooters retain the classic design with an all-metal body construction, however, they differ in terms of the battery pack, features, and other mechanical details. The Chetak Urbane, being the entry-level model, gets a colour LCD instrument panel and retains the 2.9kWh battery pack.

The Chetak Premium gets a larger 3.2kWh battery pack with a range of 127km and a top speed of 73kmph. The Premium also gets an updated TFT instrument console with navigation and phone connectivity options, along with hill hold assist and other features. Both, the Chetal Urbane and Premium are available in standard and TecPac options, giving them more tech in terms of electronics and connectivity.

Ola S1

The Ola S1 is available in three variants — S1X, S1 Air, and S1 Pro. However, the S1 Air and Pro compete directly with the Chetak. The S1 range is based on an updated platform with traditional telescopic suspension, replacing the older single-sided one. The Ola S1 Air gets a 3kWh battery pack, claiming a range of 151km. The S1 Air also gets a 7-inch touchscreen instrument console.

The S1 Pro is the range-topping variant and while from the outside it looks identical to the S1 Air, the Pro gets a larger 4kWh battery pack, offering more range, quicker acceleration, and top speed. The S1 Pro also gets an additional ‘Hyper’ ride mode, alongside the 7-inch touchscreen TFT dash, phone connectivity, and more.

Bajaj Chetak vs Ola S1 specifications

On paper, the Ola S1 is quicker, offers more range, and packs more features, however, in our opinion, the Chetak looks better while doing what one would expect from an electric scooter. Either of them is not a bad choice and if we have to pick one, we’d lean towards the Chetak.
