Bajaj took the wraps off the new Chetak electric scooters, which are priced at Rs 1.20 lakh onwards, ex-showroom. In its latest iteration, the Chetak is currently available in two variants – 3501 and 3502 – and the third, the 3503, will be launched at a later time. For those looking to buy one, here are the key differences between the two variants of the new Chetak.
New Bajaj Chetak 3501 and 3502 — What are the differences?
On the looks front, there are no differences between the two variants. In fact, there are no visual differences between the new Chetak compared to the older one as well. However, the new Chetak EV gets a new chassis and the wheelbase is longer and the two variants of the updated scooter are underpinned by the same chassis, which holds the battery pack on the floorboard, freeing up space under the seat for more storage.
Battery specifications and range

Now, let’s get into the differences. The two versions have the same battery pack – a 3.5kWh unit – with an IDC range of 153km and a top speed of 73kmph. The crucial difference here is that the Chetak 3501 gets an onboard charger that can recharge the battery from 10–80 percent in three hours, while the Chetak 3502 gets an offboard charger that takes 3 hours and 25 minutes to charge.
Features and technology

On the features front, both variants of the Chetak EV get a 5-inch TFT display, however, the 3501 variant gets a touch-enabled dash while the 3502 does not get it. The former gets auto-cancelling sequential turn signals while the latter doesn’t. The Bajaj Chetak 3501 also gets a 5-litre storage at the front while the Chetak 3502 misses out on this feature. And the final difference is that the Chetak 3501 gets a fob while the Chetak 3502 gets a traditional key.
