Mercedes-Benz’s first launch of 2025 will be the G 580 with EQ technology, better known as the all-electric G-Wagon. The new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology combines the best of both worlds — an electric powertrain and the ruggedness of the famed G-Class. Here are more details.
Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology — Design and features
The new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology retains the familiar G-Wagon’s boxy design with hints of its being electric. The biggest giveaway is the blanked-out front grille with an illuminated border, carrying the three-pointed star logo. The grille features horizontal slats while the headlight housing is optional.

Other design changes include a raised bonnet for better aerodynamics, air curtains for the alloy wheels, slight changes to the A-pillar cladding, and rear spoiler. Customers can choose to have the spare wheel mounted at the rear or have a box to carry the charging cables.
Inside, the cabin is familiar, it gets dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, a dash-mounted grab handle for the passenger, an MBUX infotainment system, a 360-degree camera, and a transparent bonnet feature for better off-road visibility.
Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology — Battery specifications and capability

The new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology is powered by a 116kWh battery pack and three electric motors that combine to make 580bhp and a massive 1,164Nm of torque. Mercedes claims a 0–100kmph acceleration in 4.7 seconds while its top speed is electronically restricted to 180kmph. The battery pack takes 32 minutes to charge from 10–80% with a 200kW DC fast charger while it can do 473km on a full charge.
Don’t let the electric look get you off guard, though, as the electric G-Wagon retains its off-road capabilities. The vehicle gets an approach, departure, and break over angle of 32, 30.7, and 20.3 degrees, while its water-wading capacity stands at 850mm. The 250mm ground clearance is enough to tackle anything on or off the road.
