The much-talked-about Kinetic Luna has been launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 69,990, ex-showroom. The company opened bookings on January 26, and Kinetic claims that the new E-Luna has garnered 40,000 bookings to date.
The Luna retains its original utilitarian design but with modern touches such as a round headlight encased in a rectangular housing, minimal bodywork, a boxy design, and a relaxed riding position. The split seat design adds to the usability of the E-Luna, which can be removed if necessary.
On the features front, the E-Luna gets telescopic front forks, dual shocks at the rear, drum brakes at both ends, 16-inch spoke wheels with tubed tyres, a digital instrument cluster, a side stand sensor, and a USB charging port.
Powering the E-Luna is a 2kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 100km. The E-Luna has a top speed of 50kmph and the battery pack can be charged in four hours. The numbers may look out of bounds when compared to modern electric scooters, but the E-Luna is not here to compete with them and is in a segment of its own.
The Luna weighs just 96kg, making it one of the lightest two-wheelers on sale in India today. And when considering that the electric motor generates 22Nm of torque from the word go, the E-Luna could prove to be an efficient workhorse for commuters and commercial purposes.
