Kia EV9 launch on October 3: What to expect?

Kia will introduce its first EV SUV and flagship, the EV9.

Kia will launch its flagship model and second EV in India, the EV9, on October 3. The EV9 will be a direct import unit (CBU) like the EV6 and will compete against luxury brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The EV9 is expected to be priced in the region of Rs 1 crore and will square off with the BMW iX. 

Kia EV9: Drivetrain and Battery 

 Like the EV6, the most expensive Kia in India is based on an e-GMP skateboard platform that is exclusive to electric vehicles. The EV9 is available in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions. We will have to wait and see if Kia will offer both models in India. The EV9 is powered by a 99.8 kWh battery pack and the single motor trim has an output of 200 bhp and 350Nm while the top model produces 378 bhp and 700 Nm. According to Kia, both the RWD and AWD versions charge from 10% to 100% in 9 hours and 5 minutes with a 16A AC charger and 10% to 80% with a 50 kW DC charger in 1 hour and 23 minutes.

Kia EV9: Features 

 The EV9 is a massive SUV as it’s 5 meters in length. It is equipped with state-of-the-art features like a fingerprint recognition sensor to apply driver’s seat settings, a digital key, two 12.3-inch displays with a 5.3-inch, a 14-speaker Meridian music system, a powered tailgate with height adjustment, an illuminated steering wheel and three-zone climate control. It is a three-row SUV that offers heated and ventilated second and third-row seats. The electric SUV gets an ADAS suite, multiple drive modes, a 360-degree camera, hill-start assist control and much more.
