Kia has issued a recall for its flagship electric car in India, the EV6. According to Kia, this is a voluntary recall and over 1300 EV6 vehicles are affected. The carmaker has also informed the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) about this initiative and has started reaching out to customers regarding the recall.
Kia EV6 recall — What is it for?
The Kia EV6 recall is owing to a software update in the integrated charging control unit (ICCU). The recall is to improve the charging process and performance of the 12V auxiliary battery in the EV6. The carmaker says it’s proactively updating the software to offer owners a better experience of owning a Kia EV6.
The affected cars are made between 3 March, 2022 and 14 April, 2023. The affected model is the pre-facelift version of the Kia EV6 and the company has started reaching out to customers for the voluntary recall, and a total of 1,306 units have been affected.
Kia EV6 — Facelift bookings open
Kia also showcased the facelift version of the EV6 at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo that took place earlier this year. The car receives a number of updates on the exterior and interior, including its battery pack. The Kia EV6 facelift features a larger 84kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 650km, while its charging capabilities have also improved — 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes with a quick charger.
Bookings for the Kia EV6 commenced on January 17, and the car gets updates for its interiors with a new two-spoke steering wheel, a fingerprint sensor to start the car, an improved head-up display (HUD) and a digital rear-view mirror, and more.
