Honda’s set foot in the EV space with the launch of two electric scooters, the Activa e and the QC1. The two scooters serve different purposes and customer bases, while the two models are a big step away from what the ICE Activa is known for. Here are more details on the Active e and the QC1 and how they differ from each other.

Honda Activa e vs QC1 — Battery Packs

The biggest difference between the two is the battery packs they come with. The Honda Active e gets two 1.5kWh batteries that are swappable and cannot be recharged like a conventional scooter. Honda says that this is done to address charging problems at home and the company will aggressively expand its battery swapping stations. The battery pack offers a range of 102km and sits under the seat, consuming the boot space.

The Honda QC1 electric scooter gets a smaller 1.5kWh fixed battery that can be charged conventionally. With the QC1, Honda claims a range of 80km and the battery pack takes six hours and fifty minutes to charge from 0–100 percent. The QC1 gets two ride modes, has a top speed of 50kmph, and can accelerate from 0–40kmph in 9.4 seconds.

Honda Activa e vs QC1 — Features and hardware

The Honda Activa e and QC1 have differences in hardware and features. The Activa e rides on telescopic front suspension, a monoshock at the rear, a disc brake at the front, keyless ignition, alloy wheels, a TFT dash with connectivity options, three ride modes, and a reverse mode.

The Honda QC1 gets telescopic front suspension, a monoshock at the rear, alloy wheels, drum brakes at both ends, an LCD instrument cluster, two ride modes, no reverse mode, 26-litre under-seat storage, and comes in five colour options. Both the Honda Activa e and QC1 get LED lighting.

Honda Activa e vs QC1 — Bookings, sale, and deliveries

The Honda Activa e’s bookings will commence in January and deliveries will begin in February. The Activa e will be sold in three cities primarily – Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi – owing to the battery swapping network Honda’s setting up. Other regions will get it at a later stage when the infrastructure is ready.

The Honda QC1 will go on sale pan-India as it can be charged conventionally. Bookings will commence in January followed by deliveries in February, similar to the Activa e. Honda will have a separate section in the Red Wing dealerships (the regular sales outlets) to sell the new electric scooters.
