Delhi Government is not leaving any stones unturned for cleaner air and boosting the adoption of electric vehicles. The national capital has been infamously called one of the world’s most polluted cities in the world. Under the proposed Delhi EV Policy 2.0, women opting for electric two-wheelers could receive an additional subsidy of up to Rs 36,000, making green mobility more accessible and inclusive.

What are the benefits for women?

The state government is working on finalizing the EV Policy 2.0, which will be valid till March 31, 2030. According to a PTI report, the Delhi government may offer an early EV adoption bonanza deal and offer the first 10,000 women EV buyers a subsidy rebate worth up to Rs 36,000. This will help increase EV penetration in Delhi as the authorities have a tall task to meet the target of 95% of EVs running on the roads by 2027. Also, the subsidy will give women independence and further empower them for their mobility.

The PTI report stated that the state government could offer incentive of Rs 10,000 per kWh and up to Rs 30,000. Furthermore, the government may plan to offer an extra deal to women who want to swap their old fuel-powered two-wheelers for electric vehicles. The incentive is up to Rs 10,000 for a two-wheeler under 12 years old.

Delhi EV Policy 2.0: What to expect?

After the expiration of the EV Policy on March 31, 2025, the Delhi Government has further extended it while working on the 2.0 version. Currently, it has been proposed to the cabinet for approval and the government is confident that this will also help create 20,000 jobs. The new policy aims to increase EV adoption with more subsidies for a stress-free mobility transition.
