The influx of electric scooters in the Indian market is evident over the last 4-5 years and legacy manufacturers are playing catchup with new EV manufacturing startups. With Bajaj and TVS already established themselves in the electric two-wheeler market and Honda jumping the bandwagon, it is time for another legacy two-wheeler brand to join the ship.
At a recent media conference, Toshihiro Suzuki, President and Representative Director, Suzuki Motor Corporation, confirmed the debut of eAccess at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The all-electric Access has been in the pipeline for a very long time and has been spotted testing on a number of occasions previously.
Suzuki eAccess debut
To be based on the existing petrol-powered Access, the battery-powered scooter will make its maiden appearance at the annual motoring exhibition before hitting the roads later this year. While no specific details of the eAccess are available yet, it is most likely to come with a fixed battery pack. It is also expected to share similar styling and equipment as its fossil-fueled sibling.
Moreover, the eAccess is not the only electric scooter Suzuki is developing. The Japanese auto giant is also working on a battery-powered Burgman Street which also has been spied on a few occasions. The launch timeline of this scooter isn’t clear but it will definitely launch after eAccess.
