In a joint initiative to enhance urban mobility safety, Battery Smart, a battery-swapping network, collaborated with the Delhi Traffic Police to launch a Road Safety and Traffic Rules Awareness Program especially for e-rickshaw drivers. The initiative is focused on educating over 100 drivers on crucial topics like responsible driving, traffic regulation compliance, safe battery usage, and weather-specific precautions, especially during the monsoon season.
Battery Smart emphasised its ongoing commitment to creating a safer and more responsible electric mobility ecosystem. The event was attended by the Chief Guest, Ajay Kumar, Executive Magistrate of South West Delhi, representing District Magistrate Shri Lakshay Singhal, IAS. Senior officials from the Delhi Traffic Police and leaders from Battery Smart also attended.
Ajay Kumar highlighted the impact of such initiatives, saying, “Creating safer roads starts with building awareness and responsible driving behaviour among all road users. Focusing on e-rickshaw drivers, who are crucial to Delhi’s mobility landscape, is a meaningful step toward improving traffic discipline and safety awareness.”

Battery Smart emphasised that e-rickshaw drivers play a vital role in India’s transition to clean and affordable last-mile transport. “Through structured training and awareness programmes, we aim to promote safer on-road behaviour, strengthen public trust in e-mobility, and create a more secure and sustainable urban commute for all,” said Capt Hamendra Sharma, Vice President, Special Operations, Battery Smart.
The programme featured interactive sessions and hands-on training conducted by instructors from both the Delhi Traffic Police and Battery Smart. It included real-life driving scenarios, battery safety guidelines, proper parking practices, and sessions on electrical safety. Participants who exhibited exceptional commitment to road safety were recognised with certificates and felicitation during the event.
