Bajaj launched the new Chetak at Rs 1.20 lakh, ex-showroom. Now when we usually hear automakers say ‘new’ to an existing model, it is typically a facelift or design update of some kind. With the Chetak, however, Bajaj has done some serious updates. Here is a more detailed look at the changes and how the new Bajaj Chetak differs from the older model.
Bajaj Chetak EV — New vs old
Dimensions
The new Chetak sees a revamp in its chassis and the result is an 80mm longer wheelbase. This has also resulted in the floorboard being longer, offering better room. The seat of the new Chetak is also longer and lower compared to the older model, thus offering more storage under the seat as well.
Features
The older Bajaj Chetak was a feature-rich vehicle, but Bajaj has upped the game even more with the updated version. The new Bajaj Chetak gets a TFT instrument cluster with touch operations, full navigation instead of turn-by-turn directions, music connectivity, sequential indicators, call and message notifications, and more.
Battery pack
The battery pack on the scooter is one of the biggest upgrades and is also one of the key reasons for the change in the chassis design. The battery pack now sits on the floorboard of the scooter and is a 3.5kWh unit that offers an IDC range of 153km. The Chetak also gets an onboard charger that can charge the battery pack from 0–80 percent in three hours. The older version had a 2.9kWh battery pack.
