Ather Energy has announced its intention to expand to 700 Experience Centres (ECs) by the end of FY26.

Bengaluru-based Ather Energy, has unveiled an ambitious plan to nearly double its retail footprint across the country. The company announced its intention to expand to 700 Experience Centres (ECs) by the end of FY26, marking a significant leap from its current network of 351 ECs within India and 24 centres across Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The announcement comes on the back of robust demand for Ather’s latest model, the Rizta. Launched as Ather’s first family-oriented scooter, the Rizta has swiftly gained popularity, crossing 1 lakh retail units sold within its first year.

This success has not only widened Ather’s customer base beyond its traditional performance-oriented segment but also significantly boosted sales across key states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Currently, the Rizta accounts for nearly 60% of Ather’s total sales volume, driving the company’s aggressive retail expansion strategy.

Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, emphasized the transformative impact of the Rizta on the company’s growth trajectory. “Rizta’s phenomenal success has opened up new markets and brought a much larger set of family buyers into the Ather ecosystem,” he stated. “Expanding to 700 Experience Centres is about staying ahead of this demand curve and ensuring that wherever our customers are, they have easy access to the full Ather experience.”

Currently, around 46% of Ather’s Experience Centres are concentrated in South India, its initial stronghold. The planned expansion will focus heavily on Northern markets, where the company aims to triple its store count, alongside continued growth in Eastern and Western regions.

Strengthening  Ather Ecosystem, Manufacturing Capacity

In addition to its retail network, Ather continues to invest in its comprehensive ownership ecosystem. As of March 31, 2025, the company operates over 3,578 fast-charging points under the Ather Grid, India’s largest two-wheeler fast-charging network. It also offers expanded service solutions, including Gold Service Centres in major cities and Express Care service for rapid maintenance.

On the manufacturing front, Ather operates two facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, for vehicle assembly and battery production. An upcoming third plant in Bidkin, AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, is set to boost Ather’s total production capacity to 1.42 million electric two-wheelers annually.

Founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, Ather Energy continues to solidify its leadership in India’s electric mobility sector, combining innovation, robust infrastructure, and an expanding product portfolio to meet the growing demand for sustainable transportation.
