Ola Electric is in the news again but for its IPO or its electric motorcycles. One of Ola’s showrooms in Kalaburagi was set on fire by an angry customer, who says that his troublesome scooter was not fixed despite repeated visits to the showroom. While scooters were gutted in the incident, thankfully nobody was hurt.
The angry Ola customer and troublesome scooter
The man, identified as Mohammad Nadeem, a 26-year-old mechanic by profession, bought an Ola scooter last month. However, the scooter had repeated problems and the service centre in Kalaburagi, Karnataka failed to address this issue even after repeated visits. As per reports, the showroom staff also ignored Nadeem and kept neglecting his requests.
Outraged by the customer service, Nadeen decided to take matters into his own hands. The accused who is now arrested, bought petrol, doused the scooters in the showroom with it and lit a fire. Firefighters were alerted and the fire was quickly put off, but the Ola electric scooters in the showroom stood no chance.
Ola Electric has not commented about the incident, however, as per reports, the damage caused to the showroom is estimated to be around Rs 8 lakh.
This incident follows the accident that happened in Indore when a fire broke out at one of the Ola Electric showrooms. Some reports say it was caused by an electric short circuit. The Showroom was evacuated and people were moved to safety. No one was hurt in the incident.
