BMW has officially announced the introduction of the Vision Neue Klasse X SUV on 21 March 2024. The teaser image has been put up on the social media handle where the company has revealed the image showcasing the side contour of the car which looks similar to the current iX.Â
There’s an assumption that has been made regarding the concept of this new BMW that it will likely resemble the first of the six cars based on BMW’s Neue Klasse EV platform that will arrive in the latter half of 2025. Considering this a five-seater, it could be an update to the existing iX3Â

BMW Neue Klasse: Production
Competitors to the BMW are the Audi Q6 E-tron and Porsche Macan Electric, whose mass production takes place in the existing markets of BMW but the production will start anew in Debrecen, Hungary, from 2025. Whereas the existing plants of BMW that are situated in Munich, Germany, and San Luis PotosÃ, Mexico are all prepped to produce the Neue Klasse models from 2026 and 2027.Â
BMW Neue Klasse: Powertrain
The upcoming BMW Neue Klasse comes up with a new sixth-generation lithium-ion battery with cylindrical cells and liquid cooling, replacing the prismatic cells used in current BMW EVs. With a drastic shift from 400V which is used in all recent models of BMW EV to 800V, this time the battery will charge 30 percent faster than the units it replaces. What’s not usual in this model is the range of electric motors.
These crucial changes on specific units are made keeping in mind that these modifications fit into other Cluster Architecture Platform (CLAR) based electric models. This platform developed by BMW is designed to accommodate a pure ICE drivetrain, which has an optional 48-volt electrical system in a mild-hybrid configuration and also supports plug-in hybrid and battery electric drivetrains.
