Honda has recently dropped official sketches of the upcoming Amaze. The company has confirmed that the compact sedan will be launched on December 4. The Amaze has been steadily clocking encouraging numbers and Honda will be expecting the new generation to up the ante. It will be interesting to see how the Amaze will take the competition to the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Even though the sedan market has been on a downward trend, the temperature is rising in the compact sedan class. Here’s what to expect from the third-generation Amaze.
Honda Amaze: Exteriors
Based on the sketches shared by Honda Cars India, the new Amaze has a familiar front fascia like the City and the Elevate and is more in line with the Civic and the Accord available in the global market. The new Amaze sheds the previous generation’s boxy architecture and makes a sweeping statement with a low-slung sporty clamshell bonnet with striking creases like the current City. The front grille has shades of the robust design seen in the Elevate, but it isn’t as wide as the one in the SUV. On top of the grille is the signature Honda chrome strip that merges into the sharp and sleek LED headlights. The front bumper has an edgy design that adds to the new Amaze’s aggressive road presence. The side profile has a clean look with a character line cutting across starting from the headlights to the tail lamps and a new set of alloy wheels. The rear has a remarkable resemblance to the City, may it be the low profile boot spoiler or the stretched LED tail lights cluster.Â
Honda Amaze: Cabin and Features

Honda has kept the interiors of the new Amaze clean and uncluttered and dual-tone in colours. It may borrow features and components from the Elevate. Hence, it could get a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger and possibly a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. The Amaze gets a new three-spoke steering wheel with a patterned panel on the dashboard where it houses the air condition vents. The centre console gets automatic climate control with metal finish toggle switches and multiple charging ports below including a 12V socket.
Even though the sketches do not reveal that the Amaze comes with a sunroof, but could be something Honda has purposely kept under wraps. There were rumours that it also be equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), but there is no confirmation from the company yet.
Honda Amaze: Engine
The new-gen Amaze is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The powertrain will be available with two transmissions — a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The Amaze will make it debut on December 4 and will take on the new Dzire, the Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. It will be interesting to see if Honda will later on introduce a CNG trim as all its rivals offer this option.
